"For the coupe de grace, they're outrageous..."

Internet request night at the Masonic...

Wow.
Of the dozen or more times I've caught Steely Dan live, last night's experience was by far the best.
Playing a relatively small venue as part it's Rent Party '09 tour, the 13-member band (headed by founders Donald Fagen and Walter Becker), pulled into San Francisco's Masonic Temple Auditorium for a three-show weekend. Included in the effort was "Internet Request Night" (last night), which allowed ticket holders to help form the evening's set list.
In addition to being treated to almost an entire rendition of SD's monumental album, "Aja," the audience enjoyed a plethora of the band's hits from their earliest days onward. Rather than review each individually, let me just say that the band was tight, the vocals stirring, the musicianship amazing, and the connection with the audience remarkable.
Here's the set list:
(Apologies for the quality of the photos...only had the iPhone camera to work with...)
