Detroit's last gasp?

As if the once-proud city's problems weren't bad enough...

Today, another nail was pounded into the coffin of The Motor City.

Detroit, which has moved beyond ruin a long time ago, is now on the brink of utter ruin.

Today, the city that put America -- and the world -- on wheels announced that they're so far behind on their bills that they're going to shut off their own electricity.

According to a Bloomberg story, "Detroit, whose 139 square miles contain 60 percent fewer residents than in 1950, will try to nudge them into a smaller living space by eliminating almost half its streetlights. As it is, 40 percent of the 88,000 streetlights are broken and the city, whose finances are to be overseen by an appointed board, can’t afford to fix them. Mayor Dave Bing’s plan would create an authority to borrow $160 million to upgrade and reduce the number of streetlights to 46,000. Maintenance would be contracted out, saving the city $10 million a year."

There's a word for all this: depressing.

Getting our money's worth?

The latest from the Gaffe-inator (aka: VP Joe Biden): "You Pay Me A Lot Of Money."

For whatever it's worth, Mr. Biden says he's still “Middle Class Joe.”

“I’m the kid from Scranton who just climbed out of a coal mine with a lunch bucket in his hand,” he adds.

Inflated...

For those folks looking for a laugh (or a bad history lesson), check out this video from the conservative PAC, American Crossroads.

It would be hilarious...if it wasn't so sad.
