UPDATE ON DISSED VETS AND CBS HAWAII FIVE-O

The latest (below) from KOA-AM morning host Steffan Tubbs on the response to his report of the "Hawaii Five-O" production team "disrespecting" Pearl Harbor/WWII veterans visiting the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific last week -- during the 70th anniversary observances of Pearl Harbor Day.

KOA/Denver host Steffan Tubbs accompanied a group of World War II veterans who traveled to Honolulu to mark the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attack on the American fleet at Pearl Harbor in 1941. That’s Tubbs on the left with 96-year old Pearl Harbor survivor Archie Gregory of Huntington Beach, CA. “He was on the deck of the USS Arizona when the attack began,” Tubbs said. “He was blown into the water. A really amazing man.”

UPDATE ON DISSED VETS AND CBS HAWAII FIVE-O

by Steffan Tubbs on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 8:21am

Morning, friends:

All of our vets are either home or on their way as I write this. I appreciate the outrage you have shared with me regarding the incident at Punchbowl on Friday. Please know via a friend, actor Daniel Dae-Kim apparently got word of this to the show's executive producer. Please see the EP's response to me via email last night:

===============

Steffan,

I'm appalled by this account of events, and you can be certain I will be questioning my crew about what happened. I fly to Hawaii tomorrow and will get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, please accept my apology for any mistreatment.

Warmest regards,

Peter M. Lenkov

Executive Producer

Hawaii Five-0

==================

TWENTY FIVE MINUTES LATER...

==================

I'm being told that our crew did stop for your ceremony, at least for the time we told you needed, then proceeded with shooting.

Sent from my iPad

==================

And then this morning... the accusations to me:

==================

From Lenkov:

After my email to you, I spoke to approx 30 folks who were there, including reps from Punchbowl. All say the same thing: they paid respect during the anthem, then called lunch to give the vets the privacy and respect they deserve. Now I know it might be fun to trash a TV show, but I can't understand why you would make these claims. Everyone knows how much we respect our military. We couldn't do our show without them. And since 80% of our crew is made up of locals with deep ties to the military, I can't imagine any one of them doing the things you said in your blog.

Also know, we were not told there was a ceremony until we arrived at Punchbowl. If you know anything about production, you would agree that we had to proceed. And we did, with great respect. Albeit you did not see it that way.

Unfortunately the damage is done. Your blog has spread quickly amongst our fan base. I have a meeting with CBS tomorrow to discuss further.

Wish you would have contacted us first so we could discuss your claims before trashing us so aggressively in a blog.

Peter M. Lenkov

Executive Producer

Hawaii Five-0

======================

to which I responded:

There is nothing made up here. If from my location I could not see your crew stop for the anthem, I apologize. I do know during Taps there were people walking around.

What about the assistant in the backpack walking through hushing vets placing roses? How do you explain the caterer?

Yes, at some point the show had to go on. And it did.

I am a newsman, not some gossip columnist. I recounted exactly what happened and this isn't "fun." These "claims" are fact. The attached picture says a lot, even if it is standard procedure for your crew on location.

Most certainly the few individuals did not represent the view of you, your entire crew, H5O or CBS. But this happened and unfortunately its a reflection of all of you.

I wish you all success and I told this like it was.

=====================

And the drama goes on.

Folks, if you are friends of mine or not, please know this was told the way it happened. Period. To those members of the crew who stopped to show their respect, I salute you. It is extremely troubling the vets never saw it.

That's a production assistant's hand trying to block the photographer...

Seems to me your trying to keep this thing going. Haven't you ever heard of the guilty parts is the one who runs their mouth...I believe that Peter will get to the bottom of this and I hope for your sake that it turns out good cause CBS don't play games. IF they did in fact disrespect the vets then shame on them for doing so but you did wrong also by not contacting them first about this matter and also did you really need to upset the vet by telling them. They were there for a reason there was no reason to tell your tale to them like that and flipping the bird just shows how immature you are. Shame on you for not going the proper routs on this matter. All the way around a lot of people have been hurt by this.

Wow, so you have a photo of security doing their job. How damning. The person who disrespected the veterans was none other than you. By your own account they were fine until you made them angry. Shame on you for ruining their day. Take some responsibility for you own actions

Anonymous said...

To Mr. Tubbs: I'm with Gloria and the last "Anonymous" - you seem to have taken YOUR indignation at the disrespect YOU perceived, and then, when your blood was "boiling" you made sure that everyone knew it. You said yourself that they didn't seem to notice (maybe you were the only one inconvenienced?), but you made sure to tell them about it. Big man - making sure that a special day ends on a sour note. Bravo.

SEEMS THIS IS A CASE OF HE SAID THEY SAID..THINK! WHO HAS THE MOST TO GAIN MR. TUBBS, OR CBS?

After reading your blog and giving this considerable thought, it seems like you were irritated by previous events (the POTUS & Mr. Salazar)and looking for a dog to kick.
It is certainly unfortunate that you have this perception of the events and even more unfortunate that you felt the need to call it to the attention of the veterans you were with. By your own account they were either unaware or un-bothered by the events until you brought your perceptions to their attention.
As far as your picture, I have personally witnessed Hawaii Five-0 filming. We were politely but firmly asked to not take pictures. As long as we quietly watched, it was no problem. Perhaps your actions were agitating the security staff?
I don't know who dropped the ball on the scheduling of both events at the same time and in close proximity. That person/organization certainly bears some responsibility as well.
And REALLY? You encouraged a bunch of WWII vets to flip off the production crew? How mature of you.
It's evident you have watched Hawaii Five-0 some,since you are familiar with the backstory and why filming was going on at the Punchbowl. You know they honor and respect the military in nearly every episode. I am confident Mr. Lenkov will investigate and get to the bottom of this matter. I hope you find it in yourself to gracefully accept his explanation.

Mr. Tubbs: You have handled this situation very immaturely. You chose to spread your venom by using the internet instead of going through the proper channels. You hurt these veterans and spoiled their day. You contiune your rant by trashing a TV show. Grow up, Mr. Tubbs. Oh, have you ever heard the old saying: "Silence is Golden"?

Mike said...

I agree that the CBS crew should have shown more respect. However when you say that you "Let the kid have it with a few select, powerful adult words and basically told him what he could tell his director" and then encouraged the Vets to flip off the production crew, I feel that shows a severe lack of adult behavior and disrespect on your part as well. You should have taken the high road and held your cool, and not resorted to the cussing and and obscene gestures. I truly feel sorry for the way the Vets were treated, but I find it impossible to feel sorry for you! You should be ashamed of yourself and your actions! You inflamed the entire situation with your actions. And now that you have made a big splash in the local media you appear to be milking it for all its worth. You, Sir do not deserve to be mentioned or associated with us Veterans. I for one will never listen to you on the morning show again until you apologize to the Veterans and to CBS for your behavior.

Anonymous said...

I was there and it was every bit as bad as Steffan said. I was particularly appalled, as were the vets, at how casually and disrespectfully the film crew treated the hallowed ground on which they walked. No thought was given to covering the headstones of American WWII heroes with every type of production equipment. Disgraceful. John

Anonymous said...

This is a sign that something is wrong with this country. Not exactly sure how else to say it. These weren't just ignorant children that were disrespectful but educated adults with careers who really should have known better. I doubt they even feel any amount of shame or regret. That's the saddest part. The world's moved on and it doesn't even know how it should treat the last remaining WW2 veterans.

Anonymous said...

To CBS/H-50; your behavior is disgusting, self-centered and tragically disrespectful. Hope your show tanks. . .I also hope some of the crew from the show learns of this does SOMETHING to acknowledge the wonderful vets and, in some small way, give them some of the respect they deserve...(thanks for letting us know, Steffan)

Anonymous said...

When fantasy becomes more important than reality, CBS has a problem. A respectful producer would have taken ten minutes to join the Vets in honoring their fallen comrades. A clever one would have figured out a way to have his team join TGGF in the moment.

Anonymous said...

Having read the account, I am appalled...at the absolute callous disregard and disrespect by the show crew, actors, the whole cess pool lot of them. Up to now, I hadn't seen the show. I can guarandamntee that I won't see a second of the show -- or anything on CBS -- now. What's more, I will send a note to CBS. Not that they'll care: their pompous arrogance and disrespect is already well demonstrated. But I'll send it anyway. I respect the men of December 7, 1941. I respect ALL of our veterans. I have none for prima donna entertainers and their lowlife producers.

Thank you for chronicling this despicable event. What man desires for ill God will use for good. Praying this will bring even more attention to these American heroes...CBS should charter a private jet, put them up in suites and bring them back for a private ceremony.Paul

Interesting Obama has time to go to the Army-Navy game but didn't have time to honor some real heroes. Thanks for all you do and I'm sure my Dad who is buired in Punchbowl was happy to see you and the rest of the Vets...God Bless you and all those great patriots! Gary - New York

Shame on them! Hawaii five-0 and CBS!
And I cannot believe some posters are defending that disrespectful Behaviour, unless of course they work for CBS or Hawaii Five-o. Seems to me someone is trying to save face.Too little too late.
Feeling sad and disappointed about all of this.

WOW! I am appalled that people would think that the proper route for handling what was a disrespectful situation is contacting the offender and not letting others know what happened. Was flipping off the crew immature ABSOLUTELY! but does that make the disrespect any less? NO! Money was involved and the show didnt want to lose it or any time, I get that HOWEVER there is a right way and a wrong way to handle situations. They called lunch for the ceremony KUDOS, but they could have avoided all the drama by simply having one of their people ask someone in the vet group, "what are your plans here today and what can we do to work it for our mutual benefit" Yes it would have been inconvenient, yes it might have cost some time and money but you cannot buy respect.

Pete said...

Gloria you don't have a clue, as well as all of you "Anonymous" posters that feel that CBS was in the right. This is a National Cemetary, and these were the heroes that made it possible for H- 5/0 to be there, much less film there. I see no reverence shown at all. Steffan has nothing to gain, except an apology for these Heroes who were so undeserving of such disregard and utter disrespect!

Cindy Roland said...

There is no record of when that photo was taken. Apparently AFTER the ceremony, otherwise the guy with the camera was being disrespectful also.

Film crews always have security whenever they are shooting and the hand belongs to a low level security guard doing their job. I'm sure whoever was taking the picture didn't identify himself.

To continue this public bashing any further is being disrepectful to those vets who were attending the ceremony. Those brave men deserve to be treated with respect and using their ceremony for publicity it not the way to go about it. This entire incident should have been handled with much more dignity.

The matter was presented and is being addressed. Why don't you wait until there is a formal statement? Sounds like mistakes were made on both sides.

Why drag the Veterans of Pearl Harbor through the mud alongside CBS and the show? Who is really benefitting from this? Certainly not either one of them. Those wonderful heroes deserve better than being included in a scandel. Please put this issue to rest.

Anonymous said...

As a former Producer-Director of 20-years I understand the importance of staying on schedule but this alleged behavior is unacceptable. My crews knew my expectations on every location; be respectful and courteous. Leave a location as we found it and never inconvenience anyone. Additionally, why should the crew have been allowed to shoot in the cemetery? A Hollywood back lot and creative editing could provide the same effect. As a former production professional I apologize for my fellow craftsmen and women to these Veterans and thank them for leaving their homes and families to protect those they did not know and those not yet born.

I am appalled by what Mr.Tubbs said and the continuation of his lies.
The crew of Hawaii 5-0 showed the utmost respect to the vets and the ceremony that went on concurrently with the filming of a scene at the Punchbowl Cemetery.
And have done many things to help our vets.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/14/hawaii-five0-cast-to-aid-_n_1090481.html

It seems obvious from his article that because he didn't get to have his "hollywood moment" (a hat from the show, a picture of the actors, or having the actors come on the bus) that he decided to trash it.
How sad that in this viral age that one little man's words can spread like a cancer and hurt the reputation of good, hardworking people.
Hope your enjoying your 15 minutes Mr. Tubbs, but very soon you will be yesterday's news.

Anonymous said...

Cindy Roland, I agree with your post completely.
If there were problems with the film crew, it should have been dealt with maturely and quietly at that moment, to preserve the dignity of the veterans ceremony. Ask to speak to whoever is in charge of the production. If that goes nowhere, contact the cemetery director. It seems like Tubbs attempted neither of these reasonable options, but instead continued to wander around the production, where, understandably, security did their job.

The show producer has responded with a different account of the events. I'm inclined to believe the truth lies somewhere in-between - the crew probably could have been more respectful, but I also feel like Tubbs' account is exaggerated, and has some sort of agenda.

There are some inconsistencies in the narrative that don't make sense to me, leaving me with the impression that Tubbs was upset right off the bat and looking for offenses, and possibly has blown much of the reported behavior out of proportion. I'm confused as to how this was so offensive and upsetting, yet most of the veterans weren't aware of it until they were told on the bus? Again, this doesn't make sense to me.

If the issue is that equipment was moved in at the grave sites, then perhaps it's best to contact the cemetery director and staff and propose stricter regulations, or the closing of Punchbowl to film crews. I'd also question them why a film permit was issued on the same day as a veterans cemetery.

Again, these veterans deserve the utmost respect, and if there was an incident, it should be dealt with an all proper apologies made. No question.
But to me, it feels like there's something more going on here - a desire for publicity, conflict, attention, I don't know. But it doesn't seem right to continue crusading and bashing while both the show and network have apologized and are looking into it.

@Pete
I never said disrespecting any vets or elderly was ok...never as a matter of fact I have stated that if they did in fact do what was said to have been done (on my facebook page) then cbs and HF0 was in the wrong. This guys seems to want to just keep this going and he has got something to gain from this being in the new by putting himself in first. This should not be about him or his feelings and he stated that many did not even notice what was going on until he told them. Why upset them that way if they did not know. Seems to me that he is looking for the fame and has gotten his wish as his name is everywhere now with this story. This should be about the vets and cbs not him.

Anonymous said...

It seems like the fans of the show can never except any criticism, no matter how justified. It was Pearl Harbor day/week.The show had to know there would be events going on in the cemetery. Yet there was no effort to work with the vets that came to remember that tragedy.What most bothered me was when the vets asked if a star could come to their bus and say something to them. They waited just to get a NO. But let the stars face an interviewer and they are right there. This is a sad commentary on the priorities of today's world. I hope none of their children die in some war tragedy. Maybe they would understand then how bad this was.

Come on Steffan. I heard you today on the Mike Rosen Show. You laughed at the Vets Flipping the Bird at the CBS crew and you mentioned that you got angry at the film crew telling you "repeatedly" to leave the area, but failed to mention as you do in your blog post that you cussed the kid out. You made no attempt when you first arrived to try and come to some arrangement with the CBS crew. Once you had made them upset by taking pictures when told to stop and not leaving the filming area when told repeatedly to do so and then cussing at the crew member, only then did you try and talk to them but all you wanted then was a hat and a visit from the actors. You on the air called the CBS crew member a punk. So lets see, using foul language, flipping the bird, name calling, disrespect for other people. It all sounds like the actions of a teenager. How old are you? I think you should grow up. You owe the Vets an apology for your actions that day. You also owe the CBS crew an apology for your actions that day. Now I will agree that the CBS crew owes the Veterans and apology as well. But your actions from the start did nothing to try and arrive at a solution before things got out of hand.

Hard to believe some of these comments re: these veterans who bought our freedoms with their lives. Instead of standing up for their right to be there, many of you are shooting the messenger. That's the new progressive attitude, I guess. It is the vets fault, the messenger's fault. As a PR guy of some 50 years I can assure you the producer took exactly the wrong tack, and yes some production crews feel they own the road. It is you negative mud-slingers who owe the vets and Mr. Tubbs an apology. Otherwise climb back under your rocks.

There is no reason which could justifie the way the Hawaii Five - O crew behaved the other day. It was very insensitive and totally unrespectful .
And a few comments trying to defend the crew while attacking the person that has explained what happened, just because they are fans of the show, wow! Unbeliable. Someone needs a reality pill . There is no excuses for what has happened .
Very wrong Hawaii Five-0 , very wrong. I won't be watching your show.

Anyone who faults the Vets or the Blog for this incident, must be a troll working for CBS. I don't give a crap about CBS, money or production schedule. Once CBS saw there was a 70th anniversary ceremony going on, they should have packed up their crap and left. PERIOD! I daresay that the last chance these vets have in their lifetimes, to recognize and be recognized for their acheivements is a HELL OF A LOT MORE PRECIOUS AND VALUABLE than CBS's production costs! I'm not only boycotting Hawaii 5.0 BUT ANY AND ALL CBS PROGRAMMING! I want the jerks who there FIRED! SIMPLE AS THAT!

And then the "apology" that WASN'T an apology. Lenkov supposedly met with CBS and it appears they forced him to say something (I just can't really call it an apology.) I am/was a fan of the show and I know they use the military in a huge variety of ways. I hope the military turn their backs on them now. I know I will.

This just goes to show the cast and crew and producers, CBS thinks Hawaii Five 0 is bigger and more important that anything else. I feel they really crossed the line this time. I am tired of their cavalier attitude. They owe a huge REAL apology and get off their damn pedestal.

Kent said...

Hey Gyrene242. I never said a word that it was the fault of the Vets. I support the Vets and said CBS does owe them a sincere apology. My problem is with Steffan Tubbs and the Greatest Generation Foundation and KOA radio. I agree that CBS was out of line but that does not excuse actions the members of the Greatest Generation Foundation took and also does not excuse Steffan Tubbs for acting like he did. There is never and I repeat never a time when it is moral or ethical to cuss out someone period. And there is never a time when flipping someone off is the right thing to do. For his actions Mr. Tubbs owes the Vets an apology and in my book he owes CBS an apology for his actions. My problem with the Greatest Generations Foundation is that they never attempted to try and talk to the CBS crew when they first arrived. CBS paid a lot of money to rent and film that day. They could have packed up and went home but that would result in a loss of that money and they would have had to pay for the rent again to film another day. Plus packing up and leaving would have created way more noise and would have caused more disruption than they did cause. Of course if the Greatest Generation Foundation had bothered to try and work something out with CBS when they first arrived maybe, most likely, the CBS crew could have accommodated them. But instead they just got angry and acted out when things did not go the way they wanted them to. What a surprise, CBS could not read the minds of Mr. Tubbs or those in charge that day and know exactly what they had planned. After Steffan Tubbs cussed out the member of the crew and would not move when they asked him to and would not quit taking photos when the asked him to, why is anyone surprised that the CBS crew was rude back. In fact they were just going about their business until Steffan Tubbs made them angry. Mr. Tubbs was insulting and very immature, you can tell that from the tone of his blog post and from his attitude since then on the radio. Mr. Tubbs was already mad from 2 days earlier when things did not go the way he thought they should. My problem with the rest of the Greatest Generation Foundation is that they have done nothing about Steffan Tubbs behavior that day. If you did the same thing at most companies in this country you would be fired immediately. Cussing and flipping the bird is almost always a grounds for firing. And encouraging others to do the same thing is even more so. He had the right to do so, but he should have showed restraint and as an adult he should certainly know better than that. But to hear him talk about it he says he sort of regrets it. He should completely regret his actions and apologize most sincerely to the Veterans that were were there that day.

Gyrene242 said...

I feel certain everyone who does not have a personal "hate-on" for Mr. Tubbs realizes he owes no apology to anyone, least of all CBS. These veterans who were exercising what was in all probability their final opportunity to honor their fallen brothers, are all adults of some standing, and they approved of Mr. Tubbs' actions and both visibly and orally disapproved of CBS's rudeness to them. Someone would have to be blinded by personal vendetta not to see that.

Gyrene242 said...

If we can step aside from the finger pointing for a moment -- the deciding who we shoot, the messenger or the perpetrators -- I would like to say it is regrettable that people probably from the mainland case this negative light on the people of Hawaii. I was there twice, once in 1960-62 on duty with the Marine Corps at Camp H. M. Smith, and again in 2004 when I took my wife there upon returning from a year of duty in Iraq at age 65. The people of Hawaii is traditionally kind, loving, and go out of their way to help visitors. The actions of the CBS crew are not at all reflective of the people of Hawaii. That's why it stands out so starkly as bullyism and disrespect for men who have earned the highest respect. Love the people of Hawaii; CBS, you have work to do.

Kent said...

Stone. Why does someone always assume that if you disagree with what they agree with then the person must automatically be a troll that works for the oposition? I do not work for CBS and I actually hate the new Hawaii 5-0. In fact I really have no use for any of the media. Just because someone has a problem with Steffan Tubbs and the way he acted does not mean they have a problem with the blog post. I support his right to post and say anything he wants in his blog post. I support his right to post the CBS emails he received. Yes they should have stopped production, if they had known it was a 70th anniversary ceremony. You do not know they had any idea that this was a 70th anniversary memorial. This occured on the 9th, not the 7th. They hold many ceremonies and memorials at the Punchbowel year arround and had it been the 7th, they would never be allowed to film or be there on the 7th period. This was 2 days later. I guess if they had been able to read the Greatest Generation Foundation members minds or Mr. Tubbs mind or the Veterans minds they would have known what was going on and they would have known all that was planned for that day. If someone from the Foundation had bothered when they first arrived to go to the director and crew and discussed the situation and what they had planned maybe and I would guess certainly, The CBS crew would have stopped production for the hour and a half that the Veterans were going to be there. Instead Mr. Tubbs and the rest of the foundation just proceeded to get angry, insult, cuss out, a CBS crew member, and encourage as well as participate in flipping them off. Is it any wonder after he had made them angry that they got very little respect? Is it any wonder that they were dissed by the actors? It by no way excuses CBS for there actions. They owe the Veterans that were there that day an apology. But in my book Mr. Tubbs should be reprimanded by the Director of the Greatest Generations Foundation for his actions that day. At most companies doing what he did while at work, would result in being fired. He should also apologize to all the Veterans for his actions. I also think he owes an apology to the crew member he cussed out as well as to CBS. The only ones I really feel sorry for are the Veterans. They should have had a peaceful and dignified day. But due to the lack of communication on either side things ended up the way they did.

Gyrene242 said...

So, I gather by Kent's continued trashing of Mr. Tubbs that he is putting himself in that minority group who agrees CBS was rude to the veterans, but Tubbs is still a bad guy. Take a breath, Kent. The sun will come up tomorrow and the good folks at CBS will do what they will do with little thought to Mr. Tubbs. (You need a blog of your own. I have 10. It helps.)

Kent said...

Gyrene, I have listened to KOA and Steffan Tubbs for 2 years. I had the utmost respect for him until this occurred. I for one think they should keep all film crews from ever being allowed at the Punchbowl. But the money they pay to do so I guess is needed due to budget cuts and a shortage of state and federal funds. I was born and raised in Hawaii, Halualoa on the Big Island, so I may be living on the mainland now but I am always a Hawaiian. So you think it is OK to cuss out someone who is only doing their job? After all the crew member was told to go and ask Mr. Tubbs to move, he was doing his job he was not in charge. It is Ok to encourage as well as participate in flipping people off? I guess it is OK for Mr. Tubbs to act rude but not OK for CBS to act rude? As far as the CBS crew, they were acting very rude I agree, they are still acting very rude and quite frankly they act as though they do not care. Quite frankly, CBS deserves the bad press they are getting out of this. But know matter what, the actions of Steffan Tubbs that day can not be excused either.

Gyrene242 said...

Kent, my oldest of five children was also born in Hawaii, but he doesn't attempt to put words in my mouth. Unsanitary business at best. As for the young man carrying water for his boss, if you are willing to be paid to act on behalf of a bully, then it follows you will be treated like the bully. Goes with the job. Or you can stand up and probably lose your job by saying, "No, that's wrong." Doesn't feed the bulldog, but you feel better. However, you still need to adjust your sights; CBS, not Mr. Tubbs should be your target.

Kent said...

Sorry, I was not attempting to put words in your mouth. I also want to thank you for your service. And yes CBS was wrong but no matter what anyone says, Mr. Tubbs actions were wrong as well. As far as that goes, whoever allowed both CBS and the Greatest Generations Foundation to book the area on the same day was ultimately at fault. After all a memorial and a TV production are always going to clash. And being that it was so close to December 7th the Veterans should have been given priority over a dumb TV show. But that being said, a little communication between the two at the start would have probably rectified the situation before it got so far out of hand. Oh well it is all water under the bridge now. What would be best for all concerned is for CBS to make a sincere apology to the Veterans and leave it at that. I know Mr. Tubbs is not going to apologize, I just would like to hear him say he truly regretted his behavior that day.

Kent said...

I do have 2 blogs as well as hosting many others. I run my own webserver business. I would not have posted anything in here except after hearing Clear Channel just continue to harp on this, not just on KOA but on several of their stations I had had enough. I will always feel that both sides were at fault in this and that with a little calm communication between the two at the start this could have turned out very differently. I really think no matter even if CBS made a sincere apology, Clear Channel and The Greatest Generations Foundation will keep trying to keep this going as they love the free publicity.

All I have heard from during all these posts is from CBS and The Greatest Generation Foundation. Some may hate CBS but that does not make there story as to what happened any less credible than The Greatest Generations Foundation story. Why have we not heard a word from the Veterans as to how they felt about the whole situation? In fact the only thing I have read was on the Greatest Generation Foundations own web site. It is from one of the Veterans there that day and he says it was a great day, not a mention of CBS or any of the other antics that day.

Anonymous said...

Because the foundation is speaking for the vets. They are from 88-96 years old and you want them to enter into all this directly? Many are wheelchair bound and don't have the strength or energy to battle. They depend on those in the foundation that do. Get real. Hear from the vets directly?In that case, why don't we hear from the stars who were there and why they didn't go greet the vets when the vets requested that? I guess CBS speaks for them also.

Anonymous said...

Go to the foundations web site and read the Vets report on the day in question. He does not mention a single word about this incident. Furthermore he seems to have had a great day by his account. I do think the majority of the veterans there that day did not even see any problems. In fact most had a great day until the members of the foundation told them while on the bus. Read Steffan Tubbs blog, he says he told them on the bus what had happened. This really sounds like the members of the foundation had a more of a problem with CBS than the Vets did. But of course it still does not excuse CBS for their actions.

Anonymous said...

Since when do 88-96 year old people not have a voice of their own. I know a few veterans in their 80's and they definitely can speak for themselves. In fact they do not like it when someone or some organization thinks they are speaking for them. They have a lot to say if people will listen to them. In fact all people in this country should spend more time listening to people from that generation. They have lived through so much and could teach the rest of us a lot. As far as the stars of the show, who cares what they have to say on this incident. They were not directly involved in the altercations that took place. In fact I doubt the director ever told them the veterans wanted to meet them. To me CBS is full of complete jerks and has been for decades. As for the Greatest Generations Foundation, well their cause is absolutely fantastic but I am sorry to say the staff is also full of arrogant, conceited jerks as well.

I agree with Gloria. He's trying to make a big deal out of it !

It's not the crews fault that the veterans came the same day that they were shouting .

Mr Tubbs you acted very immature by making a big deal of the event. The crew was there in the first.
