In an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer, National Security Adviser Susan Rice was asked, "What happened to the days when the administration was able to say it felt confident that we had dealt a crippling blow to al Qaeda and Islamic militants?" Lauer also wondered about the President boasting that al Qaeda was "on the run" and "decimated" during the 2012 campaign. Rice said the administration was only referring to its actions against "al Qaeda core" in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and that al Qaeda "has metastasized" "to places like the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, parts of Africa, Somalia," Mali and Syria.
Glad she cleared that up...
