The ad that should have run...

...incessantly.

Ask most people in California - on either side of the political aisle - and they will tell you that Sen. Barbara Boxer's finest hour was not her infamous "Call Me Senator" rant.

While her GOP opponent in the Nov. 2 election, Carly Fiorina, did have one ad on the subject, it ran for just a short time and has since been forgotten.

The ad below, produced by a conservative group, is funny -- and to the point. (David Zucker, he of the "Airplane" and Naked Gun" movies...to name but a few, oversaw this ad.)

This is the ad her team should have run from the start. My guess, if they had, Fiorina vs. Boxer wouldn't be a dead heat right now...

Call Me Senator from RightChange on Vimeo.

Late add/bonus: Zucker explains why he made the video - "I thought an apology would have been appropriate, but to my knowledge, none has ever been made by Senator Boxer. This I find distressing, since apologies from public figures nowadays are the norm. I mean, it’s not as if she texted her junk to Brett Favre. This was just arrogantly insulting an army officer. But I guess that’s okay with her. In the debate with Carly Fiorina, the subject was brought up, but Boxer was quite adept at deflecting it — and still without an apology. Let this video be my apology. Every time I see the public record listing my campaign contribution to Boxer — I wince. I mean, we all have things we’ve done in the past that we’re embarrassed about, but I’d rather have my being restricted to 100 yards away from elementary schools be public knowledge than that $5,000 Boxer campaign contribution." What price (to destroy) liberty?

Tonight, the House of Representatives passed the ObamaCare health insurance plan

From the NY Times:After Abortion Deal, Democrats Secure 219-212 Victory - Congress gave final approval to legislation that would provide medical coverage to tens of millions of Americans and remake the U.S. health care system along the lines proposed by President Obama.”

The Constitution - remember this?

One of my ancestors put it this way: “Democracy... while it lasts is more bloody than either [aristocracy or monarchy]. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.” - John Adams

John Adams - he saw this coming...

"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6

The Massachusetts special election means...radio!

With the special election for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts today, the night’s going to be busy one on the radio…

To kick things off, I’ll be on Dave Congalton’s “Hometown Radio” broadcast on KVEC-AM 920 all along the Central Coast. From 6 – 7 p.m. (Pac Time), the two of us will discuss the Brown vs. Coakley race, its implications, and we’ll taking phone calls from listeners.

Then, around 9 p.m. (Pac Time), I’ll be on The John Batchelor Show and (cross your fingers) we should have a better idea of the Massachusetts results. You can listen to the show at WTTK-FM 96.9 Boston, WABC-AM 77 NY, WMAL-AM 630 Washington, D.C., XM/Sirius Satellite Radio and on more than two dozen other stations (check local listings for details). If you’re not in one of the listening areas, you can tune-in via any of those stations’ websites.

And as always…thanks for listening.

Bailout Or Payoff ?

Courtesy of the G Blog

The Senate's version of the bailout bill? Yah, I'm sure it sticks to the issues at hand and doesn't sink us any deeper than we already are...so that's why it's important to take care of the following:

New Tax earmarks in Bailout bill
- Film and Television Productions (Sec. 502)
- Wooden Arrows designed for use by children (Sec. 503)
- 6 page package of earmarks for litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez incident, Alaska (Sec. 504)

Tax earmark “extenders” in the bailout bill.
- Virgin Island and Puerto Rican Rum (Section 308)
- American Samoa (Sec. 309)
- Mine Rescue Teams (Sec. 310)
- Mine Safety Equipment (Sec. 311)
- Domestic Production Activities in Puerto Rico (Sec. 312)
- Indian Tribes (Sec. 314, 315)
- Railroads (Sec. 316)
- Auto Racing Tracks (317)
- District of Columbia (Sec. 322)
- Wool Research (Sec. 325)

Extra: Remember that "National Debt Clock" in NY that keeps track all the money we don't have? "October 1st marks the first day of a new fiscal year for the federal government. At the rate it's going, a reduction in the national debt won't likely be on the list. The proposed $700 billion bank bailout would require the U.S. government to raise its debt ceiling from $10.6 trillion to $11.3 trillion. But it's not clear what kind of impact--if any--this effort would have on the national debt clock near Times Square that's about to run out of digits. The current debt stands at nearly $9.8 trillion, and the clock isn't equipped to go to ten." (Conde Nast's "Portfolio.com")

The money clock.
